In an effort to move the city forward, Councilman André Wallace will be hosting a town hall meeting Saturday morning, November 12th at the Embassy on First, located at 28 East First Street (between South 2nd and South 3rd Avenues) from 11:00am to 1:00pm to clear up many of the rumors plaguing the community.
With all the rumors, innuendos, confusion and misinformation being shared with the residents of the City of Mount Vernon surrounding the 2017 Budget, Streetlights, Sewer Systems, Residency Requirements, Memorial Field and many other issues, residents do not know what to believe. One day residents are told this, the next day they are told that, leaving them not sure what is true and what is not.
“It’s time to address these issues facing them head on for the betterment of our city” Councilman André Wallace tells BW.
Councilman Wallace announced at the Wednesday, November 9th City Council Meeting, that he will host a town hall meeting, invite all the elected officials and the public get to the facts. He has invited Mayor Richard W. Thomas, Council President Marcus A. Griffith and Comptroller Maureen Walker to sit together at this town hall meeting and address all questions from the public.
When asked what he hoped to accomplish at this town hall meeting, Councilman André Wallace replied, “There is too much misinformation being distributed to too many places and It’s about time you the residents of Mount Vernon got the facts!

Mayor Thomas send out a statement Saturday morning saying he was never invited to the Town Hall Meeting
A misleading robo call was circulated last evening claiming that I will be participating in a budget related meeting today -Saturday, November 12th. The truth is, I never received an invitation to attend and, had I known of said meeting, I would have recommended a date/time convenient for all.
Then Councilman Wallace posted on his Facebook page stating the Town Hall Meeting will go on as scheduled with or without the Mayor’s attendence.
Stay tuned to BW for more of this developing story.
