Double Trouble?? Venus and Serena Opt Out Of Wimbledon Doubles

The 13 grand slam title winners of doubles at Wimbledon opt out without explanation.
Dominika Cibulkova and Anna Karolina Schmiedlova also pulled out of doubles on the same day..
Both Venus and Serena won first-round singles matches Monday, the following day the tournament referee’s office announced the withdrawal without reason.
Misaki Doi of Japan and Stephanie Vogt of Liechtenstein replaced the Williams sisters in this year’s draw.
Last year, Venus and Serena also stopped after three games in the second round after Serena became ill. The 32-year-old Williams tearfully held her head in her hands as she was examined by medical staff.

imageIn an emailed statement, Serena said: ‘I really wanted to compete, but this bug just got the best of me.’
Williams also added that she looked forward ‘to returning to Wimbledon next year.’
Although they’ve returned doubles just isn’t in the cards for the pair. Unfortunately at the moment we don’t know what prompted the decision. Serena has a winning percentage of 83% and more Grand Slams (20) than anyone else in the field that isn’t related to her, combined (14). Serena and Venus have combined for 27 Slams. The rest of the field has barely half that: Maria Sharapova (5), Petra Kvitova (2), Victoria Azarenka (2), Svetlana Kuznetsova (2), Ana Ivanovic (1), Francesca Schiavone (1), Sam Stosur (1).
With records like that you can afford to miss a double without trouble!
