“I’ve contributed 27 years of my life to the music industry and I believe that music was just the beginning of my journey,” Dofat tells BW. “I also believe that one of my life goals is to share the knowledge that I’ve acquired during my 27 year tenure and it has now come to fruition as an author, world lecturer, and my appointment as associate professor. Prior to my appointment, I remember my department chair asking,“why would a guy of my experience, track record, and accolades want to become a professor?” I said, my overall purpose was not to make records for 27 years but to learn how to make records so I can teach and share my knowledge, guide, mentor, and educate the youth and next generation of music makers and entrepreneurs. This is fulfilling to me!
Dofat was presented several proclamations including one from the Mount Vernon Mayor Richard W. Thomas, a proclamation from Westchester County Legislator Lyndon Williams as well as a citation from New York State Assembly Gary Pretlow. The County Legislators also proclaimed October 19th, “Tony Dofat Day” for his outstanding achievements and contributions to society and accolades in music for 27 years, also as an educator and appointment as Associate professor at LIU, world lecturer, and the author of 2 music reference books and currently working on his third and fourth books.
