Mount Vernon – Another street shooting in the City of Mount Vernon took place Sunday night, in front of or near a Levister Towers building located at 70 West Third Street. The Mount Vernon Police Department could be seen searching the parking lot next to the building up until around 7:30PM.
While details are still sketchy about the identification or condition of the victim, our sources tell us, he was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx and is scheduled to have surgery on Tuesday.
The shooter who we are told is also in the hospital (not sure which one), shot himself in the foot (pun intended) after shooting the victim.
Mayor Richard Thomas’s spokesperson Maria Donovan told BW, the Mayor could not comment on the matter as it is under investigation by the Mount Vernon Police Department. We later contacted Acting Police Commissioner Ronald Fatigate who also said the matter was still under investigation and had no comment at that time.
This is the seventh street shooting in the city of Mount Vernon in 2016.
Former Mount Vernon Deputy Police Commissioner Anthony ‘Olskool’ Mitchell stopped by the People Before Politics Radio show, Sunday, November 27th (three weeks prior to this shooting) and told us none of the street shooting that took place in 2016 have been solved, to date (see video below).
