Will Mayor Thomas stand with his bullet proof vest in front of Sue’s Rendezvous and padlock it for the safety of the community? Or is it a double standard to businesses that is not politically connected?

As a national organization of law enforcement professionals, we have been monitoring the policies, procedures, and management of the Mount Vernon Police Department.

Just four days after the MVPD PBA President voiced his outrage and a “No Confidence” statement at the Mount Vernon City Council meeting last Wednesday,  a vicious shootout occurred at the known strip club, Sues Rendezvous.

It has been reported to our organization that a man was stabbed inside the establishment and one woman was shot in front of the establishment. We are still waiting to verify these facts since the police department has been withholding information.

This establishment is known to the media for shooting, stabbings, and other violations but still have remained opened and untouched even after Mayor Thomas had announced his so-called crackdown on business violations and used OK Freddy’s Meat Market and Mega Beverage Redemption Center as an examples of his new policies.

The Public Safety of Mt. Vernon has been questioned by residents and law enforcement professionals since Thomas’s controversial appointments over the police department. The Sue’s Rendezvous shooting is like the shooting at Arts on Third. Just another example of poor management under the Thomas Administration and having unqualified Deputy Police Commissioners and a Police Department with no real Commissioner.
