Sen. Chuck Schumer Endorses Peekskill Mayor Andre Rainey

Schumer Points to Strong Fiscal Record, Commitment to Green Policies, and Booming Local Economy in Peekskill, Under Rainey's Leadership

United States Senator and Democratic Leader of the United States Senate Chuck Schumer endorsed Andre Rainey for a second term as mayor of Peekskill, Tuesday, October 22nd.

Sen. Schumer pointed out that the city is in strong shape fiscally, economically, and politically — and the accomplishments of Mayor Rainey and his common council are getting noticed up and down the Hudson Valley.

“Mayor Andre Rainey has proven to be a dynamic leader during a time when Peekskill is engineering a renaissance,” said Senator Schumer. “He is a breath of fresh air during a partisan and polarized time when too many have sown division and sought to pit us against each other because of our differences. Mayor Rainey is building a city that welcomes everyone and lifts all boats. The City’s finances are in strong shape, there is balanced housing development targeted to residents of all income levels, and Peekskill’s reputation as a destination continues to grow. I couldn’t be more pleased to endorse him and his entire team for re-election.”

Peekskill’s youngest Mayor who first announced his bid for re-election exclusively on the People Before Politics Radio Show, Sunday, January 20, 2019, says he is honored to have the endorsement of New York’s Senior Senator.

“It is an honor to have Senator Schumer’s endorsement, who has always been a friend to Peekskill and believes enough in this City that he keeps his Hudson Valley office here,” Mayor Rainey shared with Black Westchester. “And while he fights for progressive values in Washington, we will continue to do the same here in Peekskill making it clear that Peekskill is a city that is welcoming for everyone.”

Mayor Rainey faces Vinnie Vesce and his bi-partisan ticket in the upcoming election for the top seat in the City of Peekskill. See both candidates’ interviews on Black Westchester’s People Before Politics Radio here.
