Mount Vernon residents Jesse Van Lew and A’tif K. Coleman stopped by the People Before Politics Radio Show, Sunday, August 19th to talk about the upcoming Save Mount Vernon Rally, which will take place place on the steps of City Hall, Wednesday, August 22nd, 6-8PM.
“Joined by dozens of Mount Vernon residents and business owners, we will temporarily shut down City Hall Plaza as we express outrage over corruption and call for the resignation of Mayor Richard Thomas,” A’tif, one of the rally’s organizers and Black Westchester Mount Vernon corespondent shares. “Certain residents, including myself, decided to bring the march through the heart of the city to redistribute the pain of embarrassment and economic destruction plaguing the Mount Vernon community. Many residents, including myself, feel Mayor Richard Thomas has done so much to disgrace this city. He has committed multiple crimes while in office, and is consistently misleading the public. Its so bad, the council petition a temporary restraining order against Mayor Thomas and won. Everyday we are on the news, i.e Facebook and Black Westchester. That’s not how the chief executive officer should represent this city.”
