New York,NY – The People for Bernie Sanders is proud to endorse Jumaane Williams for New York State Lieutenant Governor. As a group that organized together during Occupy, we have known Jumaane and his work for years. He has fought with us in the streets and we want him to fight with us in Albany. “It is because of his unique experiences that we feel he is best fit to represent the people of New York some of which have the most marginalized voices. Jumaane understands the absolute state of emergency our Affordable housing sector is in. He understands our crisis in healthcare and is for a single payer system. Jumaane shares our values on criminal justice reform and marijuana legalization. We will be out mobilizing for petitioning and door knocking. We are all in.” said Kat Brezler co-founder of The People for Bernie Sanders.
Winnie Wong, co-founder for The People for Bernie Sanders said “Jumaane’s track record of justice seeking activism and solidarity with impacted communities and working people is what makes him the perfect candidate for LT Governor of New York. He stood with us during Occupy Wall Street and he served as a powerful surrogate for Bernie Sanders during the primary. I’m proud that we’re standing with him now. And we’ll do everything we can to help him across the finish line.”
Vanessa Agudelo a People for Bernie member and council member in Peekskill over the weekend she also endorsed Jumaane “He’s been a true advocate for the people, especially those that are usually left behind, our marginalized community members,” Agudelo says with Black Westchester. Agudelo is an environmental activist and young progressive in Westchester.
