After weeks of senseless violence in Mount Vernon, New Rochelle and Yonkers, Black Westchester put together a panel of people who have boots on the ground in all three communities on Episode 299 or the People Before Politics Radio Show, Sunday, May 16th.
The panel included PBP Radio hosts AJ Woodson and Damon K Jones and co-hosts Lorraine Lopez (who has lost two brothers to senseless gun violence in the streets of Yonkers), and our guests this week included Minister Mark Mclean – President of the New Rochelle NAACP, Nate Adams – Director of Operations of the New Rochelle Boys & Girls Club, Angela Farris – Executive Director of New Rochelle Housing Authority and Chairman of the African-American Advisory Committee of the City of New Rochelle, Henry Terry of Mount Vernon chapter of SNUG (guns spelled backwards) Street Outreach program, Jesse Van Lew – cofounder of Save Mount Vernon, Brother John Morrison of the Brother to Brother Radio Show.
This part one of a series the panel engagement on Senseless Gun Violence that prayerfully will serve as an introduction to a much needed multiple municipality coalition. Listen to this necessary, important and timeless discussion on Senseless Gun Violence as a call to action for the community. No elected officials or candidates were invited this time. This was a conversation of community leaders and activists. Check it out, share comments thoughts and feedback in the comment section below. Also share this with everyone, we all need to start having these conversations and getting engaged pro-actively instead of reactively as this has the potential to one of the worst summers EVER!! In the words of Henry Terry do not wait for this to hit your doorstep or happen to someone you know and love before you get involved in the fight against Senseless Gun Violence in our communities!!!
