As we approach the Democratic Primary, Black Westchester thought we would give you one last look at the NY-17 Congressional Candidates. We interviewed as many as we could. Only two on the candidates we able to actually come in to the studio before we had to start observing the social distancing restrictions. The remaining candidates had to be interviewed via video and we navigated through the new normal.
Below are the interviews with the candidate running to represent New York’s 17th congressional district, which includes Rockland and northern Westchester Counties so you can check out all in one place, watched the ones you missed, or just check them out one more time before you cast your ballot. It is our hope that it will help you make an informed decision when you cast your ballot.
Our first interview was with National Security Expert, Combat Veteran, Mother, and professor Asha Castleberry Hernandez who stopped by the PBP Radio studio, Sunday, December 15, 2019, to discuss her congressional candidacy (see video below). The next candidate we interviewed was Lawyer, Nonprofit Leader, Activist, and champion of children and working families Mondaire Jones, who stopped by the People Before Politics Radio Show, Sunday, Dec 22, 2019, to discuss why he feels he is the candidate you should vote in the June 2020 Democratic Primary. Then we interviewed former National Security Advisor who served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia, Ukraine, and Eurasia, and MSNBC Analyst Evelyn Farkas on Sunday, May 3, 2020. Next up was Westchester County Legislator (District 7) Catherine Parker who helped found Indivisible Westchester and is an Environmental Activist.
