December 22, 2014, New York City Hazel N. Dukes, President of the NAACP New York State Conference extends heartfelt and deepest condolences to the families of Officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos.
“The NAACP New York State Conference of Branches is shocked and outraged over the un- provoked, cold blooded murder of two New York City police officers, Officer Wenjian Liu and Officer Rafael Ramos. We reject unequivocally this cowardly murder.
The relationship between the police and all the communities that they serve and protect is critical to the safety and security of those communities. The NYPD consists of 30 thousand officers that come from every community in New York City; the most diverse police department in this Nation.
We mourn the senseless and hateful murder of Officers Liu and Ramos and offer our condolences to their families and to all the brave men and women who put their lives on the line on a daily basis for all New Yorkers.”
