MV Independence Party Candidates Receive Major Endorsement From Law Enforcement Groups

Charles Billups, Chairman, Grand Council of Guardians endorses MV Independence Party Candidates

Mount Vernon Independence Party Candidates received endorsement from major law enforcement organizations in New York state.

Mount Vernon — The Grand Council of Guardians, National Latino Officers of America and the Westchester Latino Officers Association, announced their endorsement for MV Independence Party candidates, Lyndon Williams (County Legislator – F5), Andre Wallace (MV City Council – F9) and Janice Duarte (MV City Council – F8), Saturday on the steps of City Hall.

“Today we come here in unity, it’s not about different political parties” Charles Billups, Chairman, Grand Council of Guardians tells the crowd. “It’s about bringing about independence among ourselves, it’s about bring about independence among our people, it’s about bringing about an independent way of thinking, making change that going to affect Mount Vernon.”

Standing together with the candidates were various members of the Mt. Vernon Portuguese community, Tom Keller – Mt. Vernon Republican Chairman, John Digiovanni of the Fleetwood Citizen’s Society, Rev Jeffrey Wheeler, Rev. Fuller, and others painting a true picture of One Mount Vernon, other candidates have spoken about on the campaign trail.

“As residents of this city, we feel our Independence Party Candidates are true “Representatives of the People” of Mt. Vernon and will help to set a direction for the future of the city,” says Damon K. Jones. MV Independence Party Co-Chairman. “Mt. Vernon is a unique city that has many challenges. The citizens of Mt. Vernon cannot afford the usual “finger-pointing”, division and continuing embarrassing moments from our elected officials.”

“We believe this is a critical moment in the history of this city” Jones continues. “If we make the right choices and focus on the right priorities, we can build on our strengths and move forward with innovative ideas that will make Mt. Vernon a model of economic vitality, community sustainability, and political transparency in Westchester County.”
