Enough Is Enough! Dozens of Mount Vernon Youth Join Together To Record The Four Square Peace Project

A group of young music artists all from Mount Vernon some who previously and currently had beef, some with gang affiliations, one thing they all had in common was MUSIC, came together to work on an album together. What manifested was The Four Square Peace Project,

The 4 Square Peace Project brings together a variety of the top Mount Vernon artists, coming together to create a catalog of music, with the hopes of quelling the city’s violence. The Project bridges the gap between The Golden Era of Hip Hop , Old School R&B and Modern Production. Collectively utilizing this project, the Artists, Politicians, and Members of the community aim to raise funds in order to create New facilities for Mount Vernon’s Youth.

Capella Grey & CJ Parchment conceptualized the project and brought all of the artists together. Mr. Reggie Huggins, Chris Killibrew and Deputy Police Commissioner Anthony Mitchell assisted in facilitating this project. Councilman André Wallace has also supported the youth in the making of this project. The project consists of approximately 53 artist, rappers, singers, musicians engineers, producers, writers, etc all from the City of Mount Vernon, N.Y.

The HOPE of the project is to being this model to every City in the county, state and eventually the nation, giving Young people the opportunity to express themselves positively, through their art.

“We have all put our differences aside to promote a message of peace and unity. We have all lost loved ones and friends to gun violence and we will no longer turn a blind eye,” Ayo Jointz wrote on Facebook. “We stand for peace Mount Vernon its time to stand up if you believe it is possible stand with us share this video and tell a friend to tell a friend about the #4sqpeaceproject.”

In the wake of the senseless killing at Arts on Third, this past Sunday, the group released the trailer below to help heal the community as well as promote and bring awareness to the project. Stay Tuned for interviews with the artists and a BW Spotlight on the project in the near future.
