So as usual, we brought our garbage cans to the curb, Wednesday night for Thursday morning pick-up, as did the rest of the block. We all came home Thursday after work and school we noticed the cans still standing at the curb with garbage in them. What many people forgot or did not realize, Friday, Feb. 12th (Lincoln’s Birthday) and Monday, Feb. 15th (President’s Day) are holidays. So instead of the usual Thursday morning pick-up on the southside, trucks ran down the streets with not much garbage to pick up.
I talked to quite a few of my neighbors most did not have a 2016 Garbage Pick-Up Schedule, so we here at Black Westchester figured we share the Garbage Pick-up and Alternate Side of the Street rules for next week. While we applaud the new administration in doing a better job getting information out, than the previous administration, but it still somehow doesn’t always trickle down to the residents, who are not fluent in social media. We hope this post will assist in informing the public, reaching those that are not well versed in social media and/or have easy access to it…

Social MEdia post come from email blast… its the 21st century. If you don’t have an email or access to the internet (which u can go to the public library, ask a neighbor, call in, have a DPW schedule) then u really are making excuses. There are many ways people can get info now adays. If people don’t have the internet how could they read this schedule?
People friad of change, make it a priority to get everyone online or connected.
While the new administration is doing a good job of using social media to get information out, I think an important point is missed; Many in MV do not have easy access to or know how to use social media in a constructive way.
AGREED!
