Today, on the birthday of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Yonkers Council President Mike Khader invited some of his friends across the great city of #Yonkers to help him celebrate the legacy of MLK. Mr. Khader enlisted the help of several individuals featured in a video reading the infamous “I have a dream speech.”
Those featured in the video include Co-founder of Sisterhood of Salaam Maria Abdullah, Black Westchester Editor-In-Chief AJ Woodson, Tri-State Jericko and John Morrison (Creators of the Brother To Brother Podcast), Lorriane Lopez (Black Westchester/ Latino Empowerment reporter and community activist), Pastor Frank Coleman (Messiah Baptist Church), Pastor Polo (Ebenezer Church), Ray Wilcox (Yonkers Arts Council Executive Director) and Bougie Brews owners Donte and Charmaine each reaching portions of the I Have A Dream speech.
“It’s my belief that the words that make up his #IHaveaDream speech are more important than ever today,” Council President Khader shared with Black Westchester. “I hope today is a moment of reflection for you and yours on the contributions we make in our community and that you take a moment to really celebrate his life and honor his legacy.”
