Mount Vernon, N.Y. — The LPS Group (LIFE Progressive Services Group, Inc.) located at 47 South Fifth Ave launches The Emergency Displacement Packages Program in honor on the First Lady of Mount Vernon, Bettye Davis.
“Happy are the hands that feed,” say Bettye Davis, wife of Mount Vernon Mayor Ernest D. Davis.
That is exactly what the Emergency Displacement Packages Program will do for families who have suffered the loss of their homes due to fire or other structural damage that makes it uninhabitable. The LPS Group now provides Emergency Displacement Packages (EDPs), which include food, blankets and even plush toys for children who are beginning the road to recovering from such tragic loss.
“We appreciate all the help that the Red Cross and other organizations do to help traumatized families, but it can take days to connect them to the resources they so urgently need, says LPS Group Founder and CEO Ken Bright, who was a major contributor to BW 1st Annual Toy & Coat Drive in December. “That is where we can fill in the time gap, because we are intimately linked with the Mount Vernon community and receive virtually instant notification of the emergency need.”
Bright would like to publicly thank Chief Edward Stevenson Muhammad of the Mount Vernon Fire Department and Fraida Hickson, Director of the City of Mount Vernon’s Emergency Services/Civil Defense Team for their support for and cooperation with this program.
The LPS Group launches this program to honor the City of Mount Vernon’s First Lady, Bettye Davis. A long-time resident of Mount Vernon, she has committed strong support in the efforts to help The LPS Group help families in crisis.
The organization’s mission is based on a “Green Thinking Initiatives” philosophy, which emphasizes compassion, healing, transformation and redemption. One of the first programs launched last year aims to give respect and dignity to families by providing food and clothing for people who have been just released from prison. This helps men provide for their families while they work on transitioning into mainstream life and makes sure residents are getting the nutrition they need to live healthy, productive lives.
“Green Fleece” blankets are also distributed to the elderly in need this winter, as part of the Green Initiative belief that the most vulnerable segments of a population must be accurately defined, targeted for outreach, and empowered to increase their quality of life.
The LPS Group / LIFE Progressive Services Group, Inc. is a 501(c)3 Organization, aimed at Assisting in reentry, transitional and advocacy for the citizens of Mount Vernon, N.Y.
