MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. (February 1, 2016) — The Mount Vernon City School District’s Wellness Committee is pleased to partner with the Junior League of Bronxville to host a Kraft Mobile Food Pantry distribution on Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. in the parking lot at Parker Elementary School (461 South 6th Avenue, Mount Vernon, New York).
The JLB’s Mobile Food Pantry program works in conjunction with the Food Bank for Westchester’s Kraft Mobile Food Pantry and will provide groceries to families throughout the Mount Vernon community in need of assistance. Through the Mobile Food Pantry program, participants can receive various healthy food options of fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and meats.
“The Junior League of Bronxville, in partnership with the Food Bank for Westchester, is pleased to bring the Mobile Food Pantry to the Mt. Vernon community. Our efforts to alleviate hunger and improve nutrition in Southern Westchester have been greatly increased through our Mobile Food Pantry distributions,” said Junior League of Bronxville President Sheridan Denfeld.
“This is an opportunity for our school district and Junior League to join forces to help eliminate hunger in our community,” said Adriane Saunders, Chairwoman of the district’s Wellness Committee. “All too often, our neighbors may not have the means to feed their family and may not know where to turn for help. This is our chance to say there is help out there. We are here for you.”
