Mount Vernon, NY – Former Councilman James R. Jubilee has endorsed former Mount Vernon Deputy Clerk Lauren S. Carter for Mount Vernon City Council, Tuesday, February 23rd. Mr. Jubilee represented Mount Vernon for twelve (12) years on the city council from 1982 – 1994 and also served on the Mount Vernon School Board for ten (10) years from 1971 – 1981. As a councilman, he advocated for community involvement and clean-up campaigns to keep graffiti from taking over properties throughout Mount Vernon.
“I am endorsing Lauren Carter because she is qualified and spent her time in city government. She has knowledge about the processes of the city council. She served as Deputy City Clerk during multiple administrations and will not have to be taught how to govern. She is coming with experience that differentiates her from others running for the position. More importantly Lauren is involved in the community and knows their needs,” Former Councilman James Jubilee shared.
Lauren says she is pleased to have the support of a former member of the Mount Vernon City Council who promoted quality of life initiatives just as she seeks to promote in the future.
“I am happy to receive the endorsement from former councilman James Jubilee. Mr. Jubilee has at least two decades of experience as an elected official, both on the school board and on the city council,” Ms. Carter shares with Black Westchester. “He knows what is required for a council member to work in a manner that will bring results. A lot of the work he focused on was centered on quality of life measures. I believe that quality of life is an important aspect of our city’s growth. As a member of the city council, I will be a fierce advocate to promote such initiatives. Based on the aforementioned, I believe his endorsement speaks volumes.”
Lauren Carter is running for one of the three seats current held by Council President Marcus Griffith and Councilwomen Janice Duarte and Delia Farquharson, that are up this year in crowded Mount Vernon City Council race in the June 22nd Democratic Primary.
