Life can take you through bad situations that you think you’d never come out on the other side? Perhaps you’re still holding onto past grief or disappointment. If you are, then it’s time to learn how to let go of past pain. You deserve to let it go and know how to move forward with your life.
Holding onto past pain and anguish is a kind of self-inflicted torture that can cause serious health risks as well as emotional scarring. The truth is, when you cling to the past, you’re internally changing your present.
How can something you’ve kept inside for so long just be let go? It’s not an easy task, but it can be done with a bit of effort and self-reflection.
Pain and trauma affect our emotions. Our emotions control much of what happens throughout our individual lives. Emotions are part of our internal drive to change the way we feel.
Emotional states affect our daily attitudes, thoughts, and behaviors. If we don’t control our emotional states, many other aspects of our lives will be out of control.
First, we must recognize and accept our truths. When you accept your truth, let go of the past or what has caused us pain, it will better equip you to master your emotions. Mastering your emotional states is an essential element to achieving success, contentment, fulfillment, and happiness.
We must First Accept our Inner Truths! Everyone has one—even you.
Many of us are resistant to change, and the most challenging change is self truth-telling.
We all now live in a world of Social media. We live through our screens, and many of us feel the need to pretend to do and have and ignore or suppress our inner truths.
Some run from self-truth all of their lives, and others struggle but still go through the demanding process of self-truth. Most changes work out for the best in time; you can solve inner conflicts with yourself and conflicts with those that you love if you trust the process.
Conversely, you might be afraid that your truth-telling will create no change at all. But remember, your truth-telling is guaranteed to cause change, if only in you—perhaps the most powerful change of all. The best way to honor yourself is by beginning the process of finding your truth, embracing it, and living a life based on it.
The hard reality is this; if you cannot be true to yourself, you cannot be true to others or even in a relationship. Resisting our own truths has cause many failed relationships where we have blamed our partners for own failure to look deep inside ourselves. Unfortunately, this cycle continues throughout our lives and in our multiple failed relationships.
There are individual differences in what people decide to do with their truth. What enables one person to experience personal trauma and tragedy and then decide to use it to their advantage in life, while that same situation makes another person feel like life is not worth living?
Some of the most incredible, happy people have experienced great personal tragedies. Why? Because they’re not living in the past, their mind is in the present, living their best life.
It’s easy to get so caught up in the past that you lose the ability to enjoy the life you’re living right now.
Your Power Of The Present
The first thing you should do to take action toward a better life is to realize the present moment’s power. You can truly come to this realization in different ways, but meditation is the most popular and widely accepted method.
Meditation allows you to clear your mind. It’s refreshing to focus on the present moment when you find the time to sit down and relax without any worries about the past or future.
This personal reflection time will allow you to sort out your inner thoughts. On the flip side, take note of the number of times your mind tries to distract you from the present moment. You’ll be surprised to see just how often your mind steals the present moment from you to dwell on negative things from the past.
Enjoying The Journey and trusting the Divine Process
Many of us fail to see the divinity in our lives. The social distractions, pain, disappointments make us forget we are living divine beings. Your life journey is all you have. Your goals are essential, but the path you take toward your goals yields many fruits. You must be willing to enjoy your life and live divinely and consciously, even if you haven’t yet reached your goals.
If you have a lofty goal, such as becoming a doctor or the CEO of a large company, realize that it will take much planning and years of experience. Once you reach your goal, you may feel fulfilled, but your life mustn’t be unhappy and miserable until you get there!
You can remain happy by concentrating on the present and enjoying the journey. As you make positive progress towards your goal, you’ll know that you’re always one step closer.
Live The Life You Want Now
Living through the pandemic has shown everyone that life is too short, and there is no time better than now! Whether you maintain complete focus on your ultimate goals or not, it’s important to live the life you desire right now. You don’t know how many days you’ve been allotted on this earth, and you owe it to yourself to make the most of them!
Keep these tips in mind:
Know what’s holding you back-What are you holding onto and why? Identify the things you’re keeping inside that you shouldn’t be.
Getting your emotions out in the open- Being open about you emotions can help you get over any resentment or anger you may be feeling. Bottling up your emotions is never a good thing. Let it all out in a constructive way and you’ll be amazed at how much better you’ll feel.
Forgive and forget– It is a lot harder than it sounds, but forgiving someone who has hurt you can be extremely therapeutic. Strive to let things stay in the past and don’t allow them to affect your present. Once you learn to forgive the people who’ve caused your pain, you will find it far easier to heal and move on with your life.
Even on busy days, take at least some time for yourself- Many people fail to take at least 30 minutes for themselves. We must always be mindful of our body’s need to reset and recharge.
Don’t waste your time on people who don’t believe in you and your abilities- A lot of times in life, we carry the weight of people who dont believe in our skills and what we can accomplish. We must let that dead weight go! It’s holding you back!
Adopt a “glass is half full” mentality– We must develop our power of optimism. Having an attitude and spirit on the belief and hope the outcome of some specific endeavor, or outcomes in general, will be positive, favorable, and desirable.
Your best life is out there, ready for you to claim it! Be completely honest with yourself, with your feelings and your truth. Make a plan, and stick with it until you’ve arrived. The life you desire is attainable and within your reach. Do you have the courage to make it happen?
Let the past be the past; take a chance on feeling happy and fulfilled—Chase after your dream life!
