To the Editor:
The Town of Greenburgh recently lost an exceptional woman and community leader, who made the world a better place for many residents of our community.
Marie Roberts, who passed away recently, devoted her life helping seniors –helping those who needed encouragement, helping them cut through red tape and be heard. She visited people in the hospital, she prayed for their health, providing people with food, companionship, activities to participate in. Marie did many nice things for people, she made people smile.
Marie was honored by the town of Greenburgh for making a difference in the lives of others. When she worked for the town of Greenburgh she didn’t look at the clock – she was on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week—always ready to help someone in need. She gave back to the community. She didn’t hold elective office but she accomplished more than many officials –helping seniors and the less fortunate one on one.
Marie was happiest when she helped someone. She didn’t need plaques to remind her how good she was, how she influenced the lives of others in a positive manner. She didn’t need a title or elective office. Her reward: seeing other people happy.
It will be difficult to replace Marie Roberts—a woman who cared and who made the world a better place. Marie Roberts will be missed.
The town of Greenburgh mourns the passing of a great woman—Marie Roberts.
