Greenburgh — Greenburgh Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Tahira DuPree Chase threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Citi-Field Stadium (formerly Shea Stadium) on Wednesday, May 31 as the New York Mets played the Milwaukee Brewers, in Corona, New York. Principal Gary Mastrangelo assumed the position of the back catcher.

“I am Blessed🙏🏾…,” Dr. Dupree Chase posted on her Facebook page. “What an amazing opportunity to have thrown out the honorary first pitch. The NY Mets CELEBRATED my school district in a big way.”

The New York Mets and its affiliates designated this specific game as the day to acknowledge and celebrate the Greenburgh Central School District.The district’s various student jazz bands performed live before game time; a national public announcement identifying May 31 as “Greenburgh Central School District Day” was made during the 4th inning of the baseball game with television cameras panning towards the Greenburgh Central School District’s seating area.

“Personal THANK YOU to those who joined us just because… ❤,” she shared on Facebook. “You are not a member of my school district, yet you celebrated with us. For this, I am grateful for your time and contribution.”
