President Of The Mount Vernon Chamber Of Commerce, Dwayne Brown sits down and chops it up with Black Westchester to discuss his first year as president, how businesses can join the Chamber, the state of Mount Vernon, Mayor Davis pleading guilty of two counts of tax evasion, challenges he faced in his first year as president and the Chamber’s monthly round-table meetings.

Brown is the CEO of DNK Events, a full service event planning company, that been in existence for a little over 10 year. The young president of the Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce, hopes to bring new, fresh ideas to take the CofC into the future. He is homegrown, born and bred in the City of Mount Vernon and really loves working with kids. When Black Westchester met Brown at the new Chamber office on Mount Vernon Ave, he had two teenagers he was mentoring and teaching the business off The CofC so maybe one day they could take over. He also recently took a group of children on a tour on American Christmas, a Mount Vernon based company that has been the leader in the holiday decorating industry since 1968.
“I thought is would be a good idea to bring the kids to a company like American Christmas, since the business world and entrepreneurship is something we should be teaching kids at an early age,” shares Brown.
The Chamber of Commerce fosters trade and commerce; to stimulate tourism and promote the general welfare and prosperity of the community. The mission of the CofC is to stimulate, encourage, and promote cooperative and friendly interchange among business people, to advance the civic, commercial, industrial, and agricultural interests of the city of Mount Vernon, NY.
