Danette Chavis, founder of the National Action Against Police Brutality speaks out on the death of Mount Vernon, mother of eight, Raynette Turner, who died in police custody. Turner was the fifth African-American women to die in police custody in the month of July 2015, the most publicized being Sandra Bland.
Danette Chavis will be joined by Constance Malcolm (mother of Ramarley Graham), Sharonne Salaam (mother of Yusef Salaam of the Central Park 5) at a Town Hall Meeting in Mount Vernon on Tuesday, August 18th at 6pm at The Mansion located at 4 North Third Avenue. The TownHall Meeting titled ‘Say Her Name,’ will be held to discuss the death of Raynette Turner which is the first real test for Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman, since Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo signed the executive order.
