Cupcake Cutie Boutique Is Open for Business

Mount Vernon – After an attempt to shutdown local bakery, Cupcake Cutie Boutique (8 South 6th Avenue) Wednesday, Building Commissioner Daniel P. Jones, PMP said on various media outlets and in a press release that, “Cup Cake Boutique is officially closed until inspection and compliance with City codes.”

Black Westchester was present during the attempted and what the business is calling an illegal shutdown and while members of the building department sat across the street from the business through out the day but refused to answer question when we tried to shed some light on the situation, there was never a shutdown of the business Wednesday and the doors were open Thursday morning despite what other media outlets reported and the Commissioner Jones has stated.

It was also unclear why members of the building department including one individual who would only identify himself as the Deputy Building Commission, were sitting in a car across the street from the business and but never inspected the business as Commissioner Jones said needed to be done.

After a discussion with the Attorney for the business Lauren Raysor and Council President Andre Wallace, for clarity on the matter, it is clear that Cupcake Cutie Boutique was never closed and will remain open for business today.

Black Westchester has been informed that Attorney Lauren Raysor along with the owners Miesha Sarah and Montika S. Jones look forward to meeting with Commissioner Dan Jones of the Building Department to discuss this matter.

Attorney for Cupcake Cutie Boutique Lauren Raysor questions the second attempt to close the shop Wednesday (see video below).
