The Office of Congressman Jamaal Bowman (NY-16) is seeking a skilled and experienced Communications Director based in our DC office. The Communications Director will be the main spokesperson for the Congressman and responsible for communicating the work and voice of the Congressman to our constituents and the larger national media markets.

The Communications Director will manage a dynamic and robust communications operation and reports directly to the Chief of Staff and Congressman. The Communications Director manages a team of talented and diverse communications staff to execute on the Congressman’s vision and voice.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

-Working laterally with other directors to communicate legislative and district work

-Setting the strategy and course of the communications portfolio including press and digital in collaboration with the Congressman and Chief of Staff

-Managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the communications team

-Fielding interview requests and actively seeking out interview opportunities

-Drafting and editing press releases, op-eds, newsletters, talking points, mailers, speeches, social media content

-Preparing and staffing the Congressman for media interviews

The salary for this position is $100,000. Prior Capitol Hill experience is helpful, but not required. Campaign, organizing and narrative setting experience desired.
