Sheridan Ave between California Road and Stuyvesant Plaza
Con Edison continues to upgrade the gas transmission system in Mount Vernon. Excavation of test pits will continue through the next two weeks on Sheridan Avenue between California Road and Stuyvesant Place. Test pits are typically 6 by 10 feet street excavations used to verify underground facilities prior to gas pipe installation.
Work is scheduled until the full restoration anticipated to be by the end of fall. Your service will not be interrupted. For more information call Public Affairs at 1-914-925-6361 or e-mail WestchesterPA@conEd.com.
Brookside Avenue between Beechwood and Warwick Avenues
Con Edison will be working in conjunction with the Mount Vernon Water Department on this project which began today, Monday, 9/28. Temporary restoration is scheduled for 8 weeks with permanent restoration to follow. Weekend work may be necessary in order to expedite this project.
Con Ed will store material and equipment alongside the road while they work and may need to excavate parts of your sidewalk, driveway, or lawn. If you have any private facilities such as sprinkler lines or electric dog fences buried in your lawn, please let Con Edison know. Gas service will be interrupted as Con Edison transfers from the old gas main to the newly installed gas main. Arrangements will be made with all gas service customers to minimize impact.
If you are not home when work is completed, please call 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633), so they can return to restore your service.
