Mount Vernon — The Commissioner the DPW is announcing street closures for Snow removal. The following streets must be free of all vehicles from 12am to 8am to allow snow removal, based on the current state of emergency as declared by the Mayor.
Monday DPW Commissioner called for No Parking 12am to 8am on the following streets until further notice:
GRAMATAN between CEDAR and CENTER
BROAD between GRAMATAN and FLEETWOOD
GRAND between GRAMATAN and FLEETWOOD
Tuesday he called for No Parking 12am to 8am on the following streets until further notice:
South 4th Avenue between 2nd Street &3rd Street
1st Street between 5th Avenue & 3rd Avenue
2nd Street between 5th Avenue & 3rd Avenue
Gramatan Avenue from Prospect Ave to North Street

Vehicles remaining on the street will be ticketed and towed for the safety and welfare of the public and DPW employees.
The State of New York has provided special equipment to Mount Vernon to aid in ongoing snow removal efforts.
The equipment, the RPM 217 Loader Mounted Snow blower, is designed to effectively scoop snow and funnel it directly into a truck for efficient removal. This snow blower will allow the city to move up to 2000 tons of snow an hour.
