Mount Vernon – A Mount Vernon man was stabbed to death Wednesday afternoon. While details are still sketchy, police officials tell Black Westchester that one man was in fact dead. Officials would not elaborate more than that and officers on the scene just confirmed the man was dead and that it was an active death investigation.
Black Westchester received several call shortly before 5PM with reports of a heavily police presence on the 200 block of South Sixth Avenue across the street from Doles Recreation Center. When we arrived on the scene, we witnessed several MVPD vehicles – including one blocking off the street at West Fourth Street – and at least Westchester County Police cruiser. Police we walking a dog in the side entrance on 246 South 6th Avenue and proceeded to walk down to the basement.
Upon further investigation Black Westchester learned around 6:59PM that the victim was Randy Streete – a black male, who just turned 39 years old Friday, February 22nd – and he was in fact stabbed to death. Everything else was mere speculation from onlookers.
We reached out to Mayor Thomas, a spokesperson from his office got back to us and confirmed that there was an investigation of a deceased 39-year-old Black male, but he promised to keep us posted. No further information is available at this time.
We also reached out to MVPD Commissioner Shawn Harris but he did not respond to our request for a comment.
Stay tuned to Black Westchester for more on this developing story.
