Mall of America, America’s largest shopping mall mad a historical choice for Christmas: A black Santa Claus.
For the first time in the mall’s 24-year history, a black man will play Santa Claus,The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.
Larry Jefferson who will be the malls black Santa will pose for photos with children and adults alike from Thursday to Sunday as part of the Santa Experience, the Tribune reported.
Jefferson is a retired U.S. Army veteran from Texas. He signed a four-day contract to work in Minneapolis, and will return to Texas to finish the holiday circuit, the Tribune reported.
Santa Experience co-owner Landon Luther told the Tribune the move to hire a black Santa was a long time coming.
“We want Santa to be for everyone, period,” Luther told the Tribune.
Unfortunately, not many people see it to be that way. The editorial editor of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune stated, comments on black Santa became so offensive the paper shut down their online comments on the article about it.
“Looks like we had to turn comments off on story about Mall of America’s first black Santa. Merry Christmas everyone!” Scott Gillespie wrote.
We all remember the defiant Fox’s Megyn Kelly ignorantly tried explained to America that both Jesus Christ and Santa Claus were white men, Mall of America dismissed her advice and decide to represent the changing and the deniable browning of America.
As usual racist do what racist do in america, a boycott has been called for, with Peter Morgan on CBS Minnesota writing, “Stupid. Incredibly stupid. Santa is WHITE. BOYCOTT Mall of America. Maybe they should change their name to MALL of RAGHEAD LAND.”
