Bill Maher on Trump’s Strike on Syria
Monologue: A Few of Republicans' Favorite Things | Real Time with Bill Maher (HBO)
Bill Maher tackles the current state of politics as only he can. In the monologue of his weekly hour-long HBO talk show, Real Time With Bill Maher, Maher takes shots at the Senate confirmation of Supreme Court Judge Neil Gorsuch and Thursday’s military strike on a Syrian airfield in response to a chemical weapons attack allegedly ordered by Syria’s President Bashar Assad.
“Republican got two favorite things, a right-wing asshole on the Supreme Court and President Donald Trump finally blowing shit up.”
Maher then pointed out the hypocrisy of the Syria situation, given how in 2013 some 98 House Republicans signed a letter arguing that then-President Barack Obama needed congressional approval to take action following a similar chemical attack. Trump, however, did not seek congressional authorization for Thursday’s strike.
“Obama was president then and that would have involved ‘bombing while black,’” Maher jests.
