Another Shooting In Mount Vernon
Mount Vernon — Shots rang out in a drive-by shooting near 141 North High Street in Mount Vernon at approximately 3:30-4 P.M. Easter Sunday afternoon. An eyewitness said they heard 4 or 5 shots, one man was hit and killed while sitting inside a car.
3 suspects were seen fleeing the scene, traveling westbound in a Volkswagen, possibly heading towards the Bronx River Parkway.
News 12 reported that 20-year-old Jovelle Stewart took a bullet to the head while he was sitting in a friend’s car. The bullet didn’t kill Stewart instantly, but he died before he reached the hospital.
Mayor Richard Thomas said, “This hurts and I’m calling on Mount Vernon to chip in so that we can make sure we don’t lose anymore black men.”
Firefighters from the Oak Street Station were dispatched to clean up the blood off the sidewalk Sunday Night. Stay tuned for more of this developing story, which is currently under investigation.
Wow that is outrageous always our young black men getting killed leaving their families shattered by unnecessary acts of violence.
