A Hundred and fifty plus supporters gathered at the Hampshire Country Club (1025 Cove Rd., Mamaroneck), Monday to support Andre Wallace for Council at his Golf Outing and Fundraiser. Dr. Bob Lee, on-air personality and Community Affairs Director for WBLS hosted and was the events master of ceremony. Tito Puente Jr & His All-Star Latin Band performed and came out to support Wallace and the crowd with treated to a special guest performance from Melba Moore.
Wallace’s many supporters came to join him for a full day of golf, tennis, cocktails, dinner, live music, dancing and a full open bar. The day started off with lunch and registration at 11:30am, followed by a golf tournament at 1pm, cocktails from 6-7pm and dinner and live music at 7pm. Tito Puente’s All-Star Latin Band, entertained the crowd while they enjoyed the cocktails then Rev. Jeffrey Wheeler opened up with prayer and blessed the food after a few selections. Melba Moore came out and belted out a soulful rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, before rocking the crowd with an extended version of her hit single, ‘You Stepped Into My Life,’ and a few other selections, then spoke for a few of why she supports Wallace.
Wallace then got up and greeted and thanked his supporters and those who helped make the event possible. He shared a few words on why he decided to run for office, which was met with a standing ovation that lasted at least five minutes. He presented the golf trophies to the winners and then introduced and thanked his wife Shanna, his family, friends and staff, for all their hard work, letting them know he couldn’t have pulled the evening off without them. He gave a special thanks to his campaign manager Chanese Coleman who he referred to as CC, sharing with the crowd how she pushed him and has bigger aspirations for higher office then he does.
Then Tito Puente and his All-Star Band performed and entertained the crowd. The house was full of Mt. Vernon business leaders, elected officials like Legislator Lyndon Williams and Councilman and Mayoral candidate Richard Thomas, entertainer Jeff Redd and many others.
