Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce Celebrates Administrative Professionals Day

Mount Vernon – The Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce celebrated Administrative Professionals Day in recognition of administrative professional who are an integral part of the city, Wednesday, at Spring Asian Cuisine, located at 545 Gramatan Avenue.

The Chamber hosted this festive event to celebrate the Administrative Professionals of the city of Mount Vernon, complete with a delicious lunch, surprise activities, raffles which included gift certificates to the Bayou Restaurant, Buona Sera Ristorante and Empire City Casino and more, There was also a presentation of gifts. Montefiore and the Wartburg provided tote bag, which were stuffed with an assortment of goodies for all in attendance. Fleetwood Bakery provided sumptuous cupcakes to all.

The Mayor made a brief appearance to thank all the Admin Professionals especially City Hall staff. Other sponsors included Andre Wallace of Creative Direction Construction and Design, Steamhouse Restaurant, Tamara’s Beauty Salon, Essence of Beauty Salon, Cosmetologist Ashai Greene.

Formerly known as National Secretary’s Day was created in 1952 through the work of Harry F. Klemfuss of Young and Rubicam. Klemfuss recognized the importance and value of the position to a company or business. His goal was to encourage more women to become secretaries. Using his skill and experience in public relations, Klemfuss, promoted the values and importance of the job of secretaries. In doing so, he also created the holiday in recognition of the importance of secretaries.
